I love summer.

I love summer. I love having weekends and nights free to do what I want. I love not feeling stressed all the time. I love relaxing, reading for pleasure, getting to bed at a reasonable hour.
I am more at peace right now than I have been in a long, long time. And it feels so, so good.

I did it!

Yay! I ran the entire 3.1 miles, except maybe the first few blocks b/c there were so many people it took a while to get everyone running, but definitely at least ran 3 miles. And each mile felt better and was faster than the last, and the finish line totally snuck up on me. And I could have actually run longer! I was super-slow, of course, although my last mile was at 11:20 pace, which is not bad for me in a rainy race packed with people. Thankfully D.C. is so nice and flat. :-) Although, I do think that if I ever figured out how to be faster, I’d have made a decent distance runner – I always accelerate up inclines (of which there was only one on today’s course) and I always speed up at the end and I always get faster the longer I run. Too bad I am just SO SLOW! :-) Ahh, well… I’ll just have to practice. I am so glad I signed up for this! I’ve donated to a good cause AND done something good for myself too. I can’t wait to do another one!
